The University of Birmingham is the original British red brick university located in the city of Birmingham, United Kingdom. It received its royal charter in 1900 as a successor to Birmingham Medical School (1825) and Mason Science College (1875). Birmingham was the first red brick university to gain a charter and thus university status. It is a founding member of both the Russell Group of British research universities and the international grouping of research universities, Universitas 21.

University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest is the largest and the oldest technical university in the country and among the most prestigious universities in Romania. It was founded in 1864 as School of Bridges and Roads, Mines and Architecture and it was renamed Polytechnic School in 1920. From 1992 November, the university was given the name of University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest by Senate. In the current time, there are 1400 academic staff and 1300 administrative staff, and 25469 students (16864 Undergraduates and 8605 Postgraduates) working and studying in the University.

Polytechnic Institute of Castelo

The Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco (IPCB) has been created in 1979. The Institute has six schools that cover scientific areas of Arts, Communication and Multimedia, Business Sciences and Law, Biological and Food Sciences, Wealth and Social Protection (Welfare), Education and Teaching, Engineering and Computer Sciences, and Tourism, Sports and Service Industries.
IPCB offers high quality teaching, graduate and master degree courses, as well as specific life-long training programs, to around 5000 students, with a teaching staff of about 350.

The research activities are developed in several R&D units and with partnerships with other institutions through participation in many national and international R&D projects and consortia, some, funded by FCT (e.g.: CESUR - Centre for Urban and Regional Systems; IST, Technical University of Lisbon). Crucial to IPCB mission is the knowledge transfer to the Industry by applied and innovative research based on agreements with companies.The IPCB integrates public higher education with administrative, scientific and pedagogical autonomy. Its mission is to give citizens a high standard of qualification, the production and dissemination of knowledge, as well as the cultural, artistic, technological and scientific teaching of its students in an international frame of reference.

The teaching staff is qualified and permanently committed to the deepening of scientific and pedagogical knowledge, and the non-teaching staff is motivated and involved. The IPCB as a national higher education institution is strongly committed to the development of the region, and has become recognized and respected by the community at large.

Carlos III University of Madrid

The Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M) is a Public University founded in 1989. UC3M has a National and International reputation for its research and has reached the top of the Spanish Universities in research activity. HIGHVEC will involve staff from the Research Institute of Vehicle Safety (ISVA) and research group MECATRAN (Experimental Mechanics, Calculation and Transports) of UC3M. The academic staff participates, between others, in modules of Vehicle Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Advance Vehicle Engineering in the Master of Industrial Engineering. ISVA actively collaborates with private and public automotive industry providing cutting edge knowledge in vehicle engineering. Between its expertise areas the following can be outlined: vehicle dynamics modeling, advance vehicle testing and finite element analysis.

From the outset UC3M was intended to be a relatively small, innovative, public university, providing teaching of the highest quality and focused primarily on research. Our first Chancellor was Professor Gregorio Peces-Barba.

Tashkent Automotive Road Institute

Tashkent Automotive Road Institute was established in 1972 by the decree of the Cabinet Ministers of Uzbekistan. The TARI is the only university in Central Asia, where undergraduate and graduate programs in the areas of automotive and road construction engineering. TARI is a main and central university in preparation of curricula in technical subjects for nine technical and polytechnic universities located in Uzbekistan. At TARI, there are five departments, which are Automotive Manufacturing Technologies, Automotive Transportation, Automotive Roads and Automotive Tunnels Construction, automotive organizations economy and management, and Fundamental studies. Four of these departments train mechanical engineers in Automotive, Road and tunnels/bridges engineering in undergraduate and graduate levels in total of 600 students a year. Majority of the graduates of TARI will go to work in automotive and machine manufacturing factories, and road construction and designing institutions. TARI has links with Uzbekistan Auto-manufacturing Association (UzAutosanoat), Uzbekistan Automotive Road Concern, Oil and Gas Transportation Association, Uzbekistan’s and Tashkent city passenger transportation Organizations, who are the major employers of TARI graduates and main customers for research works performed by TARI. In addition, TARI is a base university for nine polytechnic universities in Uzbekistan in preparation of curricula in Mechanical Engineering in ground vehicle designing specialty.

Jizzakh Polytechnical Institute

After the Independence of Uzbekistan the main task has been put before the Institute and this is to train qualified specialists for the region’s different fields of economics, agriculture and industry. Nowadays there are 1228 day-time students, 1853 part-time students, 120 business school pupils and 300 academic lyceum pupils. More than 180 teachers-professors are working at JizPI to train high-qualified specialists on the basis of market economic requirements.
The history of the Institute began from 1977. In 1977, the General technical Faculty of the Tashkent Polytechnical Institute was organized in Jizzakh. 17 teachers and 4 candidates of science began their professional careers. In 1980 the General Technical Faculty became the Jizzakh branch of the Tashkent Polytechnical Institute. In 1989 the Jizzakh branch of the Tashkent Polytechnical Institute became the branch of the Tashkent Architecture Construction Institute. In 1991, The Jizzakh General Technical Faculty of the Tashkent Chemical technological Institute was organized. In 1992, the Jizzakh General –Technical Faculty of the Tashkent Automotive Road Institute was organized.
According to the Decree by 28.02.1992 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the decision of the Council of Ministers by 11.03.1992 № 125 The Jizzakh Polytechnical Institute was organized.
The Institute is one of the leading Institutes of Uzbekistan and is leading scientific and methodical center for training bachelors and masters and scientific-pedagogical specialists in various spheres of industry of Uzbekistan. Nowadays JizPI has 13 professors and doctors of sciences, 57 Candidates of sciences. The Institute has 3 departments and 18 units.

Andijan Machine Building Institute

Andijan Machine Building Institute (AMI) is a re-structured university from Andijan Economics-engineering institute starting from 2011. It comprises 2 faculties and 13 departments of which majority specialize in automotive manufacturing, machine and tractor building, automation and vehicle engineering.etc. A staff of over 180 professors and teachers works at the institute, and over 2500 students study there. AMI is located in a birth-place region of Uzbek automotive industries. The place is called Asaka city where largest automotive factories located; thus, AMI has strong links with regional factories and several of its departments have branch offices and class-rooms there. AMI’s industry links will be an asset for the project objectives to achieve. AMI has very limited experience in TEMPUS and never been directly involved in TEMPUS projects as a beneficiary university.

 

 

Samarkand State Architecture-Construction Institute

Samarkand Architecture-Construction Institute (SACI) named after Mirzo Ulugbek is founded in 1966 after the Earth-quake of Tashkent to prepare highly qualified specialists in civil engineering and architecture not only for industries located in Uzbekistan but also for industries of Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan. Nowadays, at SACI, there are 3 faculties (Management in Construction, Construction and Architecture) and 16 departments, 2800 bachelor students and 60 master students studying in over 20 bachelor directions and 11 masters programs. The SACI is a quite active university international cooperation; for instance, there are one UNESCO project in preservation of historical heritages and sites, one on-going TEMPUS project – UZWATER and one Germany-Uzbekistan training center in Architecture. Besides, SACI has cooperation and exchange links with a few leading Russian and European universities in Architecture and Construction.

 

Karakalpak State University

Karakalpak State University (KSU) is located in Nukus at North-Western part of Uzbekistan.
Nearly 10000 students study at KSU. It has already shown innovation in education and excellent in research with particular attention to knowledge relevant to the needs of Karakalpakstan`s socio-economic development.
The university is involved in international cooperation with other universities, business and institutions. KSU has successfully taken part in European Union international cooperation programmes, including Erasmus Mundus Partnerships, Tempus and DAAD. The Faculties of the KSU train specialists in a range of fields and offer BA and MA in: Humanities, Economics, Chemistry and technological Sciences, Philological Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, Architecture, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Professional education (pedagogical faculty).
There are 23 full time teachers and researchers in the department of Architecture of which 1 professor, 3 associate professors and 8 senior lecturers.

 

 

Europe-Asia Transcontinental Super Highway Consortium

 

The Consortium was founded on 19.05.2000 and registered at Ministry of Justice on 16.02.2001.
Composition of the Consortium’s members comprises 25 road design research institutes, private companies and firms, which mainly develop projects for construction and repair of roads and their facilities.

Even distribution of the Consortium’s capacity throughout territory of the country allows fulfillment of tasks on level of regions, as well as the whole country. Each year the Consortium’s members fulfill works for amount of 8-10 million US Dollars. The Consortium’s members are equipped with modern computer hardware, electronic instruments for surveying, laboratory equipment to carry out analyses of road construction materials and quality control, devices and equipment for geological survey, modern software for designing and cost calculation, and relevant licenses.

General Motors Uzbekistan

GM Uzbekistan is a joint venture between the Uzbek OJSC UzAvtosanoat (75%) and the American General Motors Company (25%) for the manufacturing of automobiles, located in Asaka, Uzbekistan. GM Uzbekistan began production on 27 November 2008. The first assembled car on this day was an Chevrolet Lacetti which also was the 1,000,000 assembled vehicle out of the production from UzAvtosanoat. The annual production of GM Uzbekistan are 250,000 units. In 2012, about 5,000 employees were employed at the GM Uzbekistan assembly plant. GM-Uzbekistan carries out 3 types of vehicle tests at the factory sites: 1. Certification tests; 2. Periodic tests; 3. Quality-acceptance tests.

Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of Uzbekistan was established in 1990 by the Decree of the President. MHSSE is a government body that coordinates and administers 78 higher educational institutions and over 900 professional colleges in Uzbekistan in all available and exchange academic programs and wide implementation of Information communication technologies. OJSC Tashkent Tractor Plant (TTP), Uzbekistan. TTP manufactures tractors, truck and tractor trailers, and spare parts and consumer goods. Its products are sold in Uzbekistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Turkey. The company was founded in 1942. It operates as a subsidiary of Uzselkhozmash – Holding Company. It intends to implement a modernization project worth US$ 121 million. The project aims to develop and integrate a new transmission for tractors with capacity of 120 horsepower and higher. In total, the TTP employs more than 3000 people, and its annual production capacity is 12000 tractors and 13300 trailers a year.  Its engineers and designers have been working in 11 product development and innovation projects with researchers and professors of TARI for the last 6-7 years.  Its role in the project will be in dissemination and implementation of the project outcomes. Also, they will provide their up-to-date problems to project partner institutions’ students and faculty members.
